Body language, like all behavior, is shaped by both our genes and our experiences in life. This means that it can vary not just between different species, but between two individuals of the same species. It can even differ for the same individual during the course of it's lifetime! In this part we will be taking a look at some of the different biological factors that might influence what information body language can provide us with in different situations.

We have already learned that in order to interpret what we see parrots do we need to consider both what we can observe the bird doing, and the context it is doing it in. So far, context has only been used to refer to a bird's immediate surroundings. However, there is also a bigger context to consider, and that is what we'll be focusing on in part 4.
