Now that we've familiarized ourselves with what parrots can do with their bodies and where to focus our attention, it's time to practice observing and describing what we see in front of us. In real life, body language happens fast and there is no pause button. However, by first practicing with images and videos that we can go back and review, we are building the necessary observational skills that make us more likely to recognize certain things as they happen in real time. Being able to accurately describe what we see without making assumptions about meaning or the parrot's intentions is an important but often overlooked foundation for interpreting behavior correctly. We will explore why that is in the rest of this part.
